Nancy Mills

Director of Health Services

Nancy has served as the Director of Health Services for St. Luke Homes & Services, Inc. since the summer of 2003.

Nancy is a Spencer native graduating from Spencer High Scool. She earned her Associate Degree in Nursing from Iowa Lakes Community College (ILCC) located in Emmetsburg, Iowa in 1986. Nancy continued her education and training from Rochester University located in Rochester, Minnesota where she was exposed to clinical experiences at St. Mary's and Methodist Hospitals.

Greg Meeter

Chief Financial Officer/Controller

Greg has served as the St. Luke Campus Chief Financial Officer/Controller since 1989.

He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting from Dordt College located in Sioux Center, Iowa.

Prior to joining the St. Luke family, Greg served as a Certified Public Accountant for Winther, Stave & Co. LLP, in Spencer, Iowa.

Ken Nelson

CEO/Administrator  

Ken joined the dedicated staff at St. Luke Homes & Services, Inc. in August 2021. 

Ken is a Sutherland native graduating from Sutherland High School. He earned his Bachelors of Healthcare Administration from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion. 

Prior to joining the St. Luke Family, Ken served as a Regional Director of Operations for a multi-facility corporation with homes located across the state of Iowa. He has around 28 years of experience in management as a licensed nursing home administrator.

Kim Krause

Office Manager/Human Resources

Kim joined the dedicated staff at St. Luke Homes & Services, Inc. in 1995, serving as the office manager and coordinator of human resources.

Her responsibilities include payroll and responding to inquiries directed towards the human resources department for the St. Luke campus.

Mary Hughes

Director of Dietary Services

Mary joined the dedicated staff at St. Luke Homes & Services, Inc. in April 1992. She served as a dietary aide at St. Luke Lutheran Home during high school, as well as a cook and assistant dietary director, before becoming St. Luke Homes & Services’ director of dietary services in April 2018.

The Spencer High School graduate is attending the University of North Dakota to earn her Certified Dietary Manager, Certified Food Protection Professional credentials.

In her spare time, Mary enjoys spending time with her husband, Matt, and their two children: Gage and Grace.

Amanda Klein

St. Luke Homes & Services Activities Director

Amanda has been working in the Activities Department with St. Luke Lutheran Nursing Home since the fall of 2010.

She grew up in Spencer, Iowa. After graduating from Spencer High School in 2005, Amanda went onto Iowa Lakes Community College receiving her Associate of Arts degree. Amanda then transferred to Buena Vista University located in Storm Lake, Iowa, where she received a Business Management degree in 2009. In May 2010, Amanda took the Activities Coordinator course through Iowa Lakes Community College.

Amanda enjoys planning activities for the residents of St. Luke Lutheran Nursing Home, as well as the tenants of Riverview Terrace. Seeing the residents involved and having fun brings joy to Amanda's life.

In her spare time, Amanda likes scrapbooking, traveling, bike riding, exercising, and spending time with her husband.

Aleah Mathews

Receptionist

Aleah joined the dedicated staff at St. Luke Homes & Services, Inc. in July 2021 

She is responsible for directing visitors, families and residents to either other staff members or residents in the building. Aleah’s duties include receiving all incoming telephone calls, performing any clerical tasks assigned, entering data information on new residents, and changing data that may arise. 

Aleah enjoys working in the healthcare setting and finds her job at St. Luke Lutheran Home rewarding. She greatly enjoys the staff and visiting with residents and their families.

Katie Chindlund

Social Worker

Katie has served as the Social Worker for St. Luke Lutheran Home since October 2018.

She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work from Buena Vista University.

Katie grew up outside of Webb. She now lives in Rembrandt with her family. In her spare time, Katie enjoys spending time with her husband, Josh, and their two boys: Lukas and Jayce.

Katie is a strong advocate for residents and works hard to make sure their needs are being met. Her goal is to help residents enjoy their stay at St. Luke Homes & Services.

Dale Meyer

Maintenance Director

Dale has been serving as the Maintenance Director of St. Luke Homes & Services, Inc. since July of 1992.

In 1993, he became a Certified Boiler Operator Grade I. In 2004, Dale received his Class I Plumbing Contractor License.

Dale served as the Building Project Manager for all three phases of Riverview Terrace and for the Aquatic Center addition on the St. Luke campus. Dale's duties include overseeing all plant operations at St. Luke, Highlands, and Riverview, as well as the two rental properties St. Luke owns.

Currently, Dale is involved with Chapter #42 Iowa Association of Building Engineers and has been active with the group since 1993. He also is a board member for the Shayla Bee Fund, an organization helping working families with a child in medical crisis.

Becky Thong

Housekeeping Director

Becky joined the dedicated staff at St. Luke in December 1985, starting in the House-keeping department. She became the department supervisor in July of 2007 and manages a dedicated staff that provides services to both the Nursing Home and the Highlands facility.

Becky finds her job at St. Luke Homes & Services very rewarding and enjoys both the award winning team environment while providing outstanding services to all residents.

Kortney Malone

Laundry Supervisor

Kortney grew up in northwest Iowa but is originally from Tennessee. She graduated from Aurelia High School in 2004. During high school she took two years of Automotive Technology with a specialty in Brake systems and one year of Constructional Trades at Western Iowa Tech Community College in Cherokee, Iowa. After almost 20 years of amateur storm chasing, she became a trained weather spotter with the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls in 2022.

 

Kortney loves to read and watch documentaries but mostly loves spening her spare time with her husband, son, and their many animals.

RKent Schmidt

Chaplain

ReRev. Kent Schmidt is the current Chaplain for St Luke Lutheran Services. He graduated from University of Northwestern College, St Paul, MN with a B.A. in Ministry and from Central Baptist Seminary, Kansas City, KS.  He served 28 years as a Chaplain and Middle-Eastern Linguist for the United States Air Force, seven years as a Career Coach and Veteran Liaison, and four years as a Hospice Chaplain, Bereavement and Volunteer Coordinator. He is from Ayrshire, Iowa originally and presently resides in Emmetsburg.  He is married to Laurie and they have seven children ranging in age from 36 to 9 years of age. As a side job he manages a Bed and Breakfast operation.

He has taught college courses in Religion, Ethics, Art and Music History, and Philosophy. He also works as an English Instructor and Career Coach, teaching English and job skills to students in various countries around the world.
